Mimesis #03 expo, raaklijnen tussen design en kunst.

4n20 is a space for art in a former weaving workshop. A space that breathes history, a relic of Kortrijk's textile past. The studio has a soul and is the bearer of the art shown there.

Mimesis' explores the common ground between art and design, but with its own 4n20 approach. An interesting dialogue is started, with artists and designers among themselves, and with the visitor.

You can immediately ask a lot of questions: what is the difference between design and art? Is design merely 'beautifying' an object or environment while maintaining (or remembering) its functionality? When does that design become art? Does art rather create an imaginary world? Can a clear boundary be drawn? Is art rather expected to touch the mind or trigger thought? And of design that it merely "looks beautiful"?

With Mimesis, 4n20 invites a select group of artists, designers and photographers to select a few works that reflect their affinity around these tangents in their own experience. Each of them installs themselves in the 4n20 Space for Art and a little further ...

At 4n20, they don't just exhibit.

With the 4n20 TALKS, 4 (Thursday) evenings, there is speaking space for those who want to BeWondered. We create Space to BeWonder, with the speakers, with the artists, by and with each other.

TALK 01: Oct 26 - 8pm: Talk with Giel Dedeurwaerder and Bob Bulcaen (Witblad), about the road to design. An inspiring quest. (10 € entrance, link for reservation)

TALK 02: Nov 02 - 8 pm: Talk with Dries Depoorter: Dries comes toWonder us about his digital world in privacy, artificial intelligence, surveillance and social media.  (10 € entrance, link for reservation)

TALK 03: Nov 09 - 8pm: Talk with Tom Callebaut of TC-Plus about the miniature rooms of the Imagination. (10 € entrance, link for reservation)

TALK 04: Nov 16 - 8pm. Talk with Sep Verboom on interdisciplinary design. (10 € entrance, link for reservation)
