Evy Toye (°1980) is an artist in painting and loves outspoken colors, which gives her works a vibrancy. Another, new world seems to emerge that takes us through those colors and different layers of paint. Again and again something new is revealed. She plays with different techniques where pencil lines and transparent layers alternate with coarser paint structures.
During the process of making a painting, she searches and feels until she has found a balance. The duality and at the same time the balance between the organic natural forms and the austere human architectural are her signature. Evy takes us into a world of images where getting lost, imagination and hope are central.
Through the balance in her paintings she refers to the question 'How do we regain the balance between man and nature?' The paintings inspire and offer hope for finding answers to this question. Evy wants to take a positive look at the future through her work. She is looking for a shift from individuality to togetherness, from uncertainty to faith…
She tells a story of hope for the different challenges we face, hope in finding a new balance.
She wants to take the viewer into speaking worlds to get lost and find again. Everyone can be inspired to see the world through a different lens. Everyone makes their own story from young to old, entrepreneur or designer, individual or group…
The intense background seems to merge with the austere forms. These give a limit in the infinity of the natural, so that she experiences a peace in her own chaos. In this way, the works create a hopeful story between the two opposites, man and nature. The fusion of the two different styles creates a unique work.
Evy Toye is educated at AHA Academy Harelbeke and specializes in painting. She has exhibited solo and in group many times at various locations in Flanders. More exhibitions are also planned in the future.
