In Parazaar's WONDER bar, discover the work of three illustrators: Elise Vandeplancke, Xavier Truant and Flore Deman.
Flore Deman is an award-winning illustrator with a versatile portfolio that includes editorial illustrations for newspapers and magazines, (children's) books, covers and packaging as well as personal work. She often raises important social issues such as human rights, mental health, global warming, sexism and racism. She wants to give a voice to those who need to be heard. Her delicate, playful drawings are invariably seasoned with a spicy dose of color and are best translated as a fairy universe in which she gently takes her viewer, layer by layer, to the heart of the story.
At Wonder, she shows a handmade four-color screenprint "Acrobats" and a limited edition print "L'Hommage," an ode to the art movement art nouveau with architectural influences.
Xavier Truant is an illustrator always fascinated by the architectural. At first, literally by the decors in which his figures
move about. But secondly, also by the way of drawing. Often busy, but at the same time purified. Using the perspective line as a guide, he works in the tradition of the clear line. A term coined by Joost Swarte when describing the work of Hergé. In his oeuvre, he seeks to make that tradition his own.
Elise Vandeplancke (1992) is an illustrator who works and lives in Kortrijk. She works for national and international clients such as The Washington Post, The Wall Street Journal, Facebook Messenger, The Big Issue Taiwan, De Morgen,....
In addition to her commissioned illustrations, she enjoys personal work where she can freely experiment with shapes and materials such as oil paint, acrylic, charcoal and pastel.
